Start with the user guide, go deep with the references

Getting started

From clone to conversation

The default installation gives you one Default workspace — the current repository setup. Its matbot.yaml defines the providers, active plugins, the Cortex WebUI, workspace RAG, memory, skills, the expert panel, and file-management tools.

01

Start locally

Use the supplied PowerShell launch scripts to run the local workbench.

02

Open the WebUI

Use the browser control surface to start a conversation in the Default workspace.

03

Choose a provider

Select an OpenAI-compatible or local provider that meets your workspace policy.

04

Compose the workspace

Add the skills, files, experts, memory, and retrieval layers your project requires.
